Summer is the perfect time to look for Environmental Education Grants and Awards! Here are some national programs that are looking for schools to apply for grants or to compete in environmental challenges for cash prizes.

Toshiba American Foundation Grants

Application deadline for grant requests over $5000 August 1; Applications for less than $5000 accepted throughout the year
For grades 6 - 12:  Classroom innovators in math and science are wanted to apply for grants for instructional equipment and materials, for projects that will engage students.

Green Thumb Challenge

Application Deadline September 30
You and your students can be part of this exciting event! All participants have an opportunity to be awarded a $5,000 grant in recognition of their garden project. Over $10,000 worth of prizes have already been awarded to Green Thumb Challenge participants, courtesy of program sponsors.

America's Home Energy Challenge

Deadline December 31
For grades 3 - 8, the challenge is sponsored by the US Department of Energy and administered by the National Science Teachers Association. The challenge is designed to:
1.  Educate students across the United States in grades 3-8 about energy and the benefits of energy efficiency
2.  Teach students to recognize that lowering their home energy use saves money
3.  Engage students and their families in a save energy, save money initiative.
