Classroom to Community 3R’s Educator Workshop
Teacher Resources - Training Workshops and Grant Opportunities


Professional Development Instructors:
EarthWays Center and St. Louis County staff
For: Elementary teachers from public and private schools in St. Louis City and Jefferson, St. Charles, and St. Louis Counties.
Join EarthWays Center and St. Louis County staff for a hands-on exploration of three Keep America Beautiful lesson plans that have been updated to be inquiry-based, focus on St. Louis area issues, and are correlated to Missouri state standards. During the workshop, you will learn how to incorporate lessons focusing on litter prevention, waste reduction and recycling into your classroom. Not only that, but you will leave the workshop with all resources necessary to start doing the lessons right away!
1st Workshop
When: November 1, 2011, Tuesday
Time: 3:30 p.m. registration
Time: 4:00-7:00p.m. workshop begins
Where: JB Visitor Center 345 North Rd. St Louis, MO, 63125
*Light dinner will be provided.
*Teachers in attendance can receive a ticket to The Legend of Lone Elk Park, on November 13, 2011.
2nd Workshop
When: November 5, 2011, Saturday
Time: 8:30 a.m. registration
Time: 9:00-12:00 workshop
Where: Commerce Bank Science Education Center 4651 Shaw Blvd. St. Louis, MO 63110
*Light breakfast will be provided.
*Each teacher in attendance can receive a ticket for return visit to the Missouri Botanical Gardens.
3rd Workshop
When: November 7, 2011, Monday
Time: 3:30 p.m. registration
Time: 4:00-7:00 workshop
Where: Faust Park, 15189 Olive Blvd. Chesterfield, MO 63017
*Light dinner provided.
*Each teacher in attendance will get to ride the carousel.
Free! $50.00 Stipend for teachers in attendance
Class Minimum: 5 people
Class Maximum: 30 people
As an added bonus, you will receive instruction on worm composting. A few lucky teachers at each workshop will also go home with a free Can O’Worms vermicomposting bin for their classroom!
Thanks to funding from the St. Louis-Jefferson Solid Waste Management District and St. Louis County Resourceful Schools Project, these workshops are being offered for free, and teachers each receive a $50 stipend for participating.
