Recycling at School - Classroom Recycling Bins
Updated August 2011
We have a very limited supply of USED classroom recycling bins available upon request. Our inventory includes a few 23 gallon (waste watchers - these are new), 14 gallon, 10 gallon, 7 gallon and 3 gallon recycling bins. However, in order to accommodate all of the schools in the county, we can only provide one bin per classroom, office, or copy machine. - School representatives are responsible for the recycling bins and are required to return them in the event that the school's recycling program is discontinued.
- Recycling coordinators are strongly encouraged to keep a semi-annual inventory of recycling bins to recover misplaced bins.
- Please do not hesitate to let us know if you have special container needs. We may consider providing larger containers for schools, if there are enough special requests.

RSP has been pleased to provide over 20,000 classroom bins to Saint Louis County Schools for paper recycling. As an increasing number of schools transition to single stream recycling, RSP will continue to evaluate the bin program to determine the most cost-effective manner to provide containers to help schools recycle as much as possible.

Single Stream Recycling

Single stream recycling (SSR) has arrived in Saint Louis County and is available for commercial accounts. SSR is a practical way of collecting all recyclable materials together and an increasing number of businesses and school districts in the region are moving to SSR as the most efficient way of reducing waste.
Most schools utilize recycling for paper and aluminum cans but oftentimes cardboard, plastic bottles, metal cans, milk cartons and other materials still end up going into the garbage dumpster. Getting a single stream recycling program started in your school district is an easy way to make a positive change for the community. If school districts participate in single stream recycling, less waste will be created and we will prolong the life of our landfills.
