Think Inside the Bin Tool Kit

School-Business Partnership is a Recycling Win-Win!

Think Inside the Bin (TIB) is an incentive program developed by Think Inside the Bin!Saint Louis County Department of Health (DOH) to encourage businesses to recycle their office paper at a local school’s Abitibi Paper Retriever recycling bin. To participate, a business agrees to adopt a local St. Louis County School and bring them all their paper (newspaper, magazines, junk mail).  Once enrolled in the program, the business receives from DOH:

  • Up to 100 deskside recycling bins free of charge.
  • A certificate acknowledging their support of the school.
  • A window cling to place on their front entrance to showcase their involvement in TIB.

Schools that are successful with recycling programs do not rely on just recycling their school’s paper.  In fact, if you are not raising at least $800 a year with your program, Think Inside the Bin is a great tool to help put your paper-recycling bin to work!  If the school participates in the Recycle Challenge aluminum can program, the business can also support the school by bringing beverage cans to the blue and yellow recycling bin.
